Countdown to Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is almost week away!  Are you ready?  I’ve been ready all week.  My parents and Chad’s mom are coming to visit, and a good family friend will join us for dinner.  It’s pretty exciting stuff!  In celebration of the Thanksgiving countdown, and because some of my friends find it amusing, I’ll be posting fun Thanksgiving stuff (mainly recipes) between now and next Thursday.

To begin the fun, have a menu!

Lunch:
Roasted Butternut Squash Soup

Main:
Roasted Heritage Turkey Breast
White Wine Braised Heritage Turkey Legs and Thighs
Pan Turkey Gravy

Sides:
Sweet Potato Fries with maple sour cream dipping sauce
Creamy Mashed Potatoes
Chestnut, Onion and Currant Stuffing
Green Beans with Mushroom Madeira Sauce
Grand Marnier Cranberry Sauce

Desserts:
Mozambique Frozen Custard
Chocolate Pecan Tart
Apple Pie with Walnut Streusel

Here’s a schedule of what I’ll try and post over the next week:

Thursday Thanksgiving Planning: The Groceries and the Schedule (oh yes, there’s a schedule)
Friday Soup!
Saturday Grand Marnier Cranberry Sauce
Sunday Potatoes: Whipped Yukons and French Fried Yams
Monday Chestnut, Onion and Currant Stuffing
Tuesday Green Beans with Mushroom Madeira Sauce
Wednesday The TURKEY
Thursday Pies! Chocolate Pecan Tart and Apple Pie with Walnut Streusel

I know, I know, I’ve never posted daily for a full week, but, all I have to say now is: ‘Thank goodness for the auto post function!.’  When I post the recipes, they will be without photos, but hopefully I’ll remember to have the camera ready while I’m cooking so I can take some pictures to accompany the recipes.  We’ll see how that goes.  I’m pretty bad at remembering to take pictures (the gallery has been down for weeks since I haven’t had the time to figure out why I get an internal server error when I try to access it), but since it’s a special occasion, I’ll try.
