Passed my language phone test!

Since I can’t run down the halls of my office shouting “I passed! I passed,” I’m just going to have to do it on the Internet. To do:

Gmail chat to my husband Done
Tweet Done
Facebook Check
Website Double Check!

Now I have to write a short email to Naomi my Hebrew teacher. It’s going to take a while because while I can speak Hebrew well enough to pass the phone test, I write (and read) like a first grader. Maybe I should just call her instead.

Congrats! From your blog, I guess that will bump you up quite a bit on the register! Does that mean you might be making a September class!!

Wonderful news and now you have to shoot me some advice as I go about preparing for my Japanese test!

    Best,

Thanks! I went from somewhere in the 70′s to #29 as of a couple of hours ago. There’s still a possibility I won’t get the call for the August class, but my chances are immensely improved.

I’m going to do a write up on my test experience soon. But right now, the biggest advice I have is to have regular phone conversations with a native speaker. The Yahoo! A-100 board has some good resources.

Congrats! I’m hoping to take the Hebrew phone test in a couple of months as well. Any chance you could pass on Naomi’s contact information?

That’s amazing! Congratulations. I just recently stumbled onto your site. If you don’t mind answering a general question: how challenging did you find the language exam?

I think I’m in the same boat as you with my Russian. It was actually my first language, but my reading and writing is so poor…would you be kind enough to share how you felt when you were taking it? Did the questions make you nervous? Sometimes when I’m nervous I have a little trouble speaking in Russian…

Would you mind sharing what level you passed the exam at? 2,3,4? I’m wondering how much the writing and grammar affects your level, but I know you just need a 2 to get the extra points for the registrar.

I’d appreciate any light you could shed on this.

    Thank you,

    Sergei
